Canadian

Canadian
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation aids individuals with cystic

Children
and Adults Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD) has
four primary objectives: 1) to maintain a support network
for parents who have children with ADD and adults with
ADD; 2) to provide a forum for continuing education of
parents, professionals, and adults with ADD about the disability;
3) to be a community resource for information about ADD;
and, 4) to make the best educational experiences available
to children with ADD so that their specific difficulties
will be recognized and appropriately managed within educational
settings.

Muscular
Dystrophy Association of Canada is a national voluntary
agency committed to eliminating neuromuscular disorders and
alleviating the associated distress. Mission Statement: to

Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) provides
information on a wide variety of disabilities and disorders.
Since its inception in 1983, NORD has served as the primary
non-governmental clearinghouse for information on over
5,000 rare disorders. NORD also provides referrals to additional
sources of assistance and on-going support.
PLAYWORKS Resource Unit for Children with Disabilities
in Child Care in Australia. This organization resources and supports
the
development of inclusive child care programs. It is a program
of Noah's Ark Family Resource and Toy Library for Children with
Special Needs, Inc.
Rare
Genetic Diseases in Children is
an internet jump-station to sources of information on rare
genetic diseases affecting children.
The
Roeher Institute functions as a unique clearinghouse on
disability issues. It is a gateway to information about the
intersection of human rights and the circumstances of people
with disabilities in Canada and around the world. The Roeher
Institute responds to thousands of requests for information
annually, provides reference and referral information and generates
customized bibliographies, reference lists, and information
packages. Their services are open to the public, and are widely
used by researchers, families, advocates, service providers,
teachers, government, employers, and students.

scolaire et sociale (SASSLF) is an internet service providing
resources for parents, teachers, schools and other professionals,

of students with special needs. The special needs education
project operates under the auspices of schoolnet, a cooperative
initiative of Canada's provincial, territorial, and federal

Ability
OnLine Support Network is an electronic mail system that
connects young people with disabilities or chronic illness
to disabled and non-disabled peers and mentors. This easy to
use network give "wings" to thousands of children
and adolescents by removing the social barriers that can come
with having a disability and illness, and by providing opportunities
to form friendships, build self-confidence, exchange information,
and share hope and encouragement through e-mail messages. Ability
OnLine is also a valuable resource for families and friends
anxious to know more about an illness and help manage it. The
network provides disabled youngsters and their families with
up to date information on medical treatments, educational strategies
and employment opportunities through peer support. Access to
the network is available through the use of a computer, modem
and the telephone system, either by dialing directly into the
system or by telnet via the internet.
Mothers
United for Moral Support, Inc. (MUMS) A
national parent to parent organization for parents or care
providers of a child with any disability, disorder, chromosomal
abnormality or health condition. MUMS' mission is to provide
support to parents in the form of a networking system that
matches them with other parents whose children have the same
or similar condition.
