Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada is a pan-Canadian organization that is dedicated to promoting quality, publicly funded child care accessible to all.

The Child Care Resource and Research Unit (CRRU) focuses on research and policy resources in the context of a high quality system of early childhood education and child care in Canada.

Active Living Alliance for Canadians with Disabilities

Arthritis Society is a national organization whose website provides information about many types of arthritis, their treatments, management tips, programs, services, support groups and much more!

Autism Institute on Peer Relations and Play offers a guide to families, practitioners, researchers and others seeking to address the unique and complex challenges children on the autism spectrum experience in peer relations and play.

Canadian Association for the Deaf promotes and protects the rights, needs and concerns of Canadians who are deaf.

Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation aids individuals with cystic fibrosis by: conducting research into improved care and treatment; seeking a cure or control for CF; promoting public awareness and raising funds.

Children and Adults Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD) has four primary objectives: 1) to maintain a support network for parents who have children with ADD and adults with ADD; 2) to provide a forum for continuing education of parents, professionals, and adults with ADD about the disability; 3) to be a community resource for information about ADD; and, 4) to make the best educational experiences available to children with ADD so that their specific difficulties will be recognized and appropriately managed within educational settings.

Down Syndrome This site offers a number of links to information about Down Syndrome including educational resources, worldwide organizations, essays, and recommended books. Try the article, "Siblings; Brothers and Sisters of People who Have Mental Retardation."

Friend 2 Friend is a British Columbia-based not-for-profit organization formed in 2002 for the purpose of promoting understanding, acceptance and mutually rewarding friendships between children with autism spectrum and related social-communication disorders and their peers.

The Geneva Centre's website features a discussion forum, resources, information on autism, a publication archive, a reference library, and related links.

Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada is a national voluntary agency committed to eliminating neuromuscular disorders and alleviating the associated distress. Mission Statement: to generate the financial and human resources necessary to help people challenged by neuromuscular disorders today, while searching for tomorrow's cure.

Abilities Magazine Canada's Lifestyle Magazine for People with Disabilities promotes positive portrayal of people with disabilities in mainstream media, carries out other disability communications activities.

Canadian Abilities Foundation through their new initiative, EnableLink, offer quick access to a huge range of disability information and resources. Here too you will find virtually all of the information, inspiration and opportunity accumulated in Abilities Magazine - nearly 40 issues of Canada's premier lifestyle publication for people with disabilities!

National Inclusive Play Network (United Kingdom)

National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) provides information on a wide variety of disabilities and disorders. Since its inception in 1983, NORD has served as the primary non-governmental clearinghouse for information on over 5,000 rare disorders. NORD also provides referrals to additional sources of assistance and on-going support.

PLAYWORKS Resource Unit for Children with Disabilities in Child Care in Australia. This organization resources and supports the development of inclusive child care programs. It is a program of Noah's Ark Family Resource and Toy Library for Children with Special Needs, Inc.

Rare Genetic Diseases in Children is an internet jump-station to sources of information on rare genetic diseases affecting children.

The Roeher Institute functions as a unique clearinghouse on disability issues. It is a gateway to information about the intersection of human rights and the circumstances of people with disabilities in Canada and around the world. The Roeher Institute responds to thousands of requests for information annually, provides reference and referral information and generates customized bibliographies, reference lists, and information packages. Their services are open to the public, and are widely used by researchers, families, advocates, service providers, teachers, government, employers, and students.

Child & Family Canada/Enfant & famille Canada is all about child care, child development, parenting, health, safety, literacy, media influences, nutrition, physical activities, play, family life, adolescence, learning activities, social issues and special needs.

Health Canada/Santé Canada provides information on a wide variety of topics regarding health in Canada.

Learning Disabilities Association of Canada/Troubles d'apprentissage - Association canadienne's website offers information on Learning Disabilities, research, events, and links to interesting and related information.

The Special Needs Education Project (SNE)/site de l'Adaptation scolaire et sociale (SASSLF) is an internet service providing resources for parents, teachers, schools and other professionals, individuals, groups and organizations involved in the education of students with special needs. The special needs education project operates under the auspices of schoolnet, a cooperative initiative of Canada's provincial, territorial, and federal governments in consultation with educators, universities, colleges and industry.

KidsHealth.org has trainloads of information on infections, behaviour and emotions, food and fitness, and growing up healthy, as well as cool games and animations!

Parents Place has message boards where you'll find lots of information on a wide variety of topics ranging anywhere from kids health, to special needs, to child development and parenting.

Today's Parent Online is the digital supplement to the magazine Today's Parent. Provides articles on your child's development, chat rooms, answers to parenting questions, and the hot topics of the week.

Parent-To-Parent Support

Ability OnLine Support Network is an electronic mail system that connects young people with disabilities or chronic illness to disabled and non-disabled peers and mentors. This easy to use network give "wings" to thousands of children and adolescents by removing the social barriers that can come with having a disability and illness, and by providing opportunities to form friendships, build self-confidence, exchange information, and share hope and encouragement through e-mail messages. Ability OnLine is also a valuable resource for families and friends anxious to know more about an illness and help manage it. The network provides disabled youngsters and their families with up to date information on medical treatments, educational strategies and employment opportunities through peer support. Access to the network is available through the use of a computer, modem and the telephone system, either by dialing directly into the system or by telnet via the internet.

Mothers United for Moral Support, Inc. (MUMS) A national parent to parent organization for parents or care providers of a child with any disability, disorder, chromosomal abnormality or health condition. MUMS' mission is to provide support to parents in the form of a networking system that matches them with other parents whose children have the same or similar condition.

Parents Helping Parents Helps children with special needs receive the love, hope, respect and services they need to achieve their full potential by strengthening their families and the professionals who serves them.

Canadian Early Intervention Research--seeks to inform researchers, policymakers, practitioners, parent, families, and other stakeholders about early intervention for young children with developmental delays/disabilities and their families across Canada.

The Ontario Association for Infant Development-- serves families and professionals involved in Infant Development and Early Intervention Services within and outside of Ontario, Canada.

The Early Intervention Association of Nova Scotia (EINS) - formed in 1996
by parents of children receiving services, board members of existing Early
Intervention programs, professionals working within the field, and other interested individuals.
